The Republic

I Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands.
Angie: What is the Republic?
Alex: The Republic is a form of government that controls the country; there are three groups the Consuls, Tribunes, and the Senate. No group has more power than the other.
Angie: That’s very interesting.

Alex: Ya I know. Now here's Ally and I are going to explain the three branches of the republic.

Ally Consuls: They were elected to be at the top of the government. The consuls controlled the army.

Alex Senate: The Senate was the law makers. The senate was controlled by Rome’s Patricians.

Ally Tribunes: The tribunes were elected by the citizens they worked to gain right’s for the Plebeians. They also brought complains before the senate and the consuls.

Twelve tables
Angie: Hi my name is Angie.
Alex: And this is Alex.
Angie: Today we’ll be talking about the twelve tables.
Alex: What about the twelve tables?
Angie: Well for one thing they had all the Roman Laws on them.
Alex: Oh yeah didn’t they put them in the Forum?
Angie: Yeah. And they were put there so everyone could see them.
Alex: And that way none of the Patricians could make up a law out of no where and people couldn’t claim that they didn’t know that something was a law.
Angie: And did you know that the were put there in the late 400’s?
Alex: No they weren’t!
Angie: Yeah they were. Look it up.
Alex: OH I knew that.
Angie: Uh huh sure you did.
Alex: I DID!!
Angie: Whatever.
Alex: Now here's Korey with the two main social classes of Ancient Rome.

Both classes have some things in common and differences they both could go to the coliseum and they both could have slaves both could have fun at the forum. Patritians were the wealthy people in rome. Plebians were not veary wealthy. The plebians were usually farmers, tradesmen, and shopkeepers. They can both go to the colosium. Both could have slaves. hey juilus ceaser was a senator next is juilus ceaser.

Ally: Ally here again.
Angie: With Angie.
Ally: And we will be talking about the Punic Wars.
Angie: Hey Ally do you know who was involved?
Ally: Obviously Rome, Carthage, Hannibal, Scipio, and, and, and…
Angie: That’s it.
Ally: Good I thought I had forgotten something.
Angie: Anyways. Carthage was the empire that Rome was battling against. The leader of Carthage was Hannibal.
Ally: Cannibal?
Angie: Not Cannibal. Hannibal.
Ally: Oh yeah. I know about him. He had a secret weapon for his army. Elephants. I love elephants!
Angie: You might not love these. These particular ones were trained to kill.
Ally: True. But I wasn’t even born then.
Angie: Rome went against Carthage 3 times!
Ally: And Rome was victorious each time. Go Rome!
Angie: Basically it was a waste of time for Carthage, since Rome defeated them every single time!
Ally: I think I’m gonna go to the zoo and look at the elephants after this.
Angie: Bring me back a t-shirt.
Ally: Sure thing!
Angie: Well I guess there’s nothing more to know about the Punic Wars.
Ally: Yay! I get to go to the zoo now!
Angie: Um… well bye.
